about
This is KillGig. This blog is for people who are taking part in the music industry. My intent is to write for both artists and industry professionals. KillGig is not age/genre specific, so it doesn’t matter if you’re an upstart punk band comprised of 15 year olds with braces, the next Britney Spears (pre-shaved head), hip hop’s greatest unheard gift, or the 80s cover band that frequents the local bars, you’ll find some useful know-how here.
My name is Jared Brickman. I’m a graduate of Crane School of Music’s Bachelor Degree Program in Music Business. I’ve spent 3 years as the A&R Executive of Madstop Records, a year acting as business manager of SubCat Music Studios, and 3 years interning for Korg - Marshall - Vox. I’ve thrice worked at the NAMM [National Association of Music Merchants] Show, and once traveled the streets of NYC for the CMJ [College Music Journal] Music Marathon. In addition to spending plenty of time on the industry side, I’ve also had many experiences as a musician: crap bar gigs, getting screwed by promoters, and playing the Knitting Factory @ NYC with my latest band, a ska punk group “Behind Bad Luck!”.
I’m here to help. If you have any questions, or would like some in-depth research on a topic, I’ll be happy to provide counsel. I’m always looking for things to blog about. Don’t hesitate to leave me a comment or toss me an e-mail at:
